ToteBagFactory Supports 2026 San Diego Golf Classic

ToteBagFactory supporting the American Cancer Society with custom tote bags in 2026

On August 24, 2026, golfers, business leaders, community partners, and supporters gathered at La Jolla Country Club for the 23rd Annual San Diego Golf Classic, benefiting the American Cancer Society.

For ToteBagFactory, this year’s event also marked an important milestone: our third consecutive year supporting the San Diego Golf Classic. After contributing to the event in 2024 and 2025, we returned in 2026 with an in-kind donation of 144 custom tote bags for the tournament.

What began as a one-year contribution has grown into an ongoing relationship with an event that brings together local businesses, community leaders, volunteers, and supporters around a shared purpose: helping support people and families affected by cancer.

Golf With a Bigger Purpose

The San Diego Golf Classic has been part of the local philanthropic community for more than two decades. Now in its 23rd year, the annual event combines a day of golf with fundraising, networking, and community involvement in support of the American Cancer Society.

The 2026 event schedule began with registration and the Gift Salon at 9 a.m., followed by a noon shotgun start at La Jolla Country Club. After golfers completed their rounds, the afternoon continued with a cocktail reception, dinner, and event program, with the day scheduled to conclude at 6 p.m.

The event also included premium golfer gift packages, raffles, a live auction, and opportunities for participants to connect throughout the day. Together, those elements make the San Diego Golf Classic more than a traditional golf tournament. It is a fundraising event built around participation, community, and a cause that affects millions of individuals and families.

While golf brings everyone together for the day, the purpose extends well beyond the course. Support for the American Cancer Society helps advance cancer research, advocacy, and programs and services designed to assist people with cancer and their families.

ToteBagFactory Returns for a Third Consecutive Year

ToteBagFactory first became involved with the San Diego Golf Classic in 2024, when we provided custom bags for the event. Our first San Diego Golf Classic partnership introduced us to an event where our products could serve a practical purpose while also contributing to something much larger.

We returned in 2025 and were pleased to continue that relationship once again in 2026.

This year, ToteBagFactory once again provided custom tote bags for the Golf Classic. The bags became part of the event experience, giving participants a useful way to carry gifts and materials throughout the day.

That practical role is one of the reasons this partnership makes sense for us. Tote bags are simple products, but they are especially useful at events where guests receive materials, merchandise, gifts, or other items throughout the day. Instead of being something that is used once and immediately discarded, a well-made tote can continue to be carried well after an event has ended.

For ToteBagFactory, seeing our bags used in a real event environment is also a reminder of why organizations choose them in the first place. A tote can be functional, customizable, easy to distribute, and capable of carrying an organization’s message beyond a single moment.

Custom Tote Bags as Part of the Event Experience

Promotional products work best when they have a real purpose. At a golf tournament, conference, fundraiser, trade show, school event, or community gathering, attendees often need something practical to carry what they receive during the day.

That is where custom tote bags fit naturally.

For the San Diego Golf Classic, the bags were not simply decorative pieces. They had a job to do. Participants could use them to carry event gifts and materials while moving through the day’s activities, and the bags could remain useful after the tournament was over.

That combination of function and visibility is one reason tote bags remain such a common choice for organizations planning events. A useful promotional product tends to stay in circulation longer than something designed only for the moment. When the design and bag style fit the event, the result can feel like part of the experience rather than an advertisement added to it.

For businesses, nonprofits, schools, community organizations, and event planners, that distinction matters. The best promotional products are usually the ones people actually want to keep using.

A San Diego Tradition Built Around Community

The San Diego Golf Classic is supported by a broad network of organizers, volunteers, businesses, donors, participants, and community partners who each contribute in different ways to making the event possible.

The 2026 event was chaired by George Young, Paul C. Murphy, MD, and Kevin Sullivan, alongside an Executive Partnership Council made up of leaders from the San Diego community.

That collective involvement is an important part of a long-running charity event like this one. A successful tournament does not come together because of one company, one donation, or one person. It requires many different contributions, from organizing and fundraising to volunteering, participating, providing products, and supporting the event behind the scenes.

Some organizations contribute financially. Others provide services, products, time, or expertise. Each contribution fills a different role, but together they help create an event capable of bringing people together around the same mission.

ToteBagFactory is glad to play a small part in that larger effort.

Remembering the People Behind the Mission

The San Diego Golf Classic also keeps the human side of cancer fundraising at the center of the event through the Patrick Sullivan Inspiration of Life Award.

Patrick Sullivan was diagnosed with colorectal cancer at age 37. His treatment included radiation, 35 consecutive days of chemotherapy, and four surgeries. Two years later, he was declared cancer-free.

After going through his own cancer experience, Patrick dedicated significant time and energy to raising funds for the American Cancer Society. In 2022, he was recognized as the event’s Inspiration of Life Honoree. The award was later renamed in his memory, continuing to recognize his contribution and legacy.

Stories like Patrick’s provide important context for events such as the San Diego Golf Classic. Fundraising numbers, sponsorships, donations, and tournament activities are only part of the story. Behind them are individuals who have faced cancer themselves, families who have supported loved ones, medical professionals, researchers, volunteers, and communities working toward better outcomes.

That is ultimately what gives events like this their meaning.

Why Long-Term Community Partnerships Matter

For ToteBagFactory, one of the most meaningful parts of the 2026 event is the continuity behind it.

Supporting one event once is valuable. Returning year after year creates something different. It allows a business to become familiar with the organization, understand how its contribution is being used, and build a relationship that extends beyond a single donation.

Our involvement with the San Diego Golf Classic now spans three consecutive years: 2024, 2025, and 2026.

Over that time, the event has given us an opportunity to contribute through the products we know best. Rather than trying to create a connection where one does not naturally exist, we are able to provide something useful that fits directly into the event.

That is the kind of community involvement we value most: practical, relevant, and connected to a real need.

Three Years of Supporting the San Diego Golf Classic

What began with a donation in 2024 has now become three consecutive years of ToteBagFactory supporting the American Cancer Society’s San Diego Golf Classic.

We are grateful to the American Cancer Society team and the organizers of the San Diego Golf Classic for giving us the opportunity to contribute again in 2026. We also appreciate everyone who participated, volunteered, organized, donated, or supported this year’s event.

For ToteBagFactory, our contribution represents one small piece of a much larger community effort. What makes the partnership meaningful is seeing our bags become part of a day focused on bringing people together and supporting work related to cancer research, advocacy, patients, and families.

Three years into our involvement, we are proud that ToteBagFactory continues to have a place in the San Diego Golf Classic story, and we look forward to seeing what this community accomplishes next.
